The source of creativity

I am often reminded that creativity comes from the lessons that were ripped from our child, for so many, were ripped from our childhood when we were told to color inside the lines, put the square block in the square peg and so on. This afternoon, I was reminded how important those childhood memories are. While talking with a peer, we began to talk about Strengths and the Strengths Movement. This movement underscores the talents that each of us possesses and have since we were little. Maybe you were always a little more empathetic with others or your could find your way around town without a map; maybe you weren't a great athlete, but found your way being a great teammate and coaching others along. Whatever your talents, these things came naturally to you. At times you didn't even know that you did them, but regardless you were great at them. While talking with this peer, she was shocked that a movement like this existed. It reminded me how much we need to remember what it was like when we were little. Do the things that you are great and never give up being great at who you are, no matter who pushes you down or tells you to color inside the lines.
